Miliband: Raise the minimum wage to £8 an hour by 2019

"My pledge for your family finances: an £8 minimum wage."
Launching his party’s manifesto in April 2015, Ed Miliband promised: “A minimum wage by 2019 reaching its highest ever proportion of average earnings, rising to more than £8 an hour.”

Appearing earlier that month on the ITV Leaders’ Debate, the Labour leader said: “If I’m prime minister, I will raise the minimum wage to 8 pounds an hour.”

From the Labour manifesto 2015: “We will improve the security and reward of working life by raising the National Minimum Wage to more than £8 an hour by October 2019.”
